And the ultimate PSU I purchased is the Corsair HX 850W Professional Series. (£130 from DABS)
Core Features:
-
Guarenteed to deliver 850W at 50 ° degrees C
-
90% energy efficiency
-
Multiple GPU ready
-
140mm Thermally Controlled Fan
-
105 ° High Quality Japanese solid state capacitors
-
Flat, Modular Cables
-
7 Year Guarentee
The Corsair HX850W has no serious drawbacks. Its voltages are stable and there is low output voltage ripple. It is highly efficient and offers a lot of connectors with which you can connect three graphics cards and about ten hard disk drives using no adapters.
I almost went for the alien-looking XFX Black Edition, but all the reviews I read declared the Corsair HX850W as 'formidable'. For me, the main deciding factors were the many positive reviews, the flat low-profile cables (every psu should have this!) and the reassuring 7 year guarantee.
Upon arrival I found the box, presentation and unit to be good, it was easy to install and operates quietly.
Bottom line: a solid, well-engineered 850W PSU that's backed up by a decent warranty and priced just about right to tempt users looking to power a high-end PC. An excellent choice for high-performance computers.
